The first place I was interested in in China was Turpan, as there is the lowest point in China (and Eurasia - sans the Death Sea).

So, skipping Ürümqi (only changing trains there) I went to Turpan by train (a fast one to Urumqi and a regional one for the last leg of the journey).

At arrival I got invited for dinner by a local (sheep feet and fish) and got a suggestion for a good hotel and an ancient place to visit the next day. Good day overall! :)

PS: lots of places were one can ?rent? a powerbank, a Chinese told be that is because the are crazy about their phone use.
